Avanti R&D unveiled one of its most ambitious projects to date in Tartu, Estonia. The project, introduced by Urmas Klaas, the Mayor of Tartu, marks a pivotal moment in the future of urban transportation, combining machine learning and autonomous technology to enhance passenger safety and comfort.

Our machine learning-driven system is designed to integrate seamlessly with both autonomous shuttles and the surrounding city infrastructure. The system utilizes advanced vision technology to ensure the safety of passengers both inside and outside the shuttle. In addition, a language detection feature offers city guides in multiple localized languages, elevating the comfort and experience for all passengers.

A Collaborative Effort Driving Innovation

The successful launch of this project would not have been possible without the invaluable collaboration of our partners. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Roomer Tarajev and the Business Development Department at the City of Tartu for their instrumental role in bringing this initiative to life as part of the European Capital of Culture 2024 celebrations. Special thanks also go to Yazaki Innovations, Inc., for their continued support and partnership, as well as to the Auve Tech team for their dedication in ensuring the project’s successful execution.

Furthermore, we would like to recognize Kensuke Nakajima for initiating the connection that led us to the City of Tartu and the vibrant technological landscape of Estonia.

Looking Toward the Future

With this project marking a significant milestone, Avanti R&D is excited for the future of smart city mobility and the potential for continued innovation in partnership with forward-thinking cities like Tartu. We look forward to more groundbreaking ventures and technological advancements in the coming years.
